AI model

First use downloads a 4.6 MB model plus about 14 MB (WASM) or 27 MB (WebGPU) of engine data. Quality adds a separate 176 MB model and needs more memory. Models can be cached; photos are not cached. If GPU processing fails, the WASM fallback can download both engine files.

Choose a clear foreground subject. Let the AI create its mask, compare the result, then correct missing details with Restore or remove unwanted areas with Erase. Keep edge effects subtle. PNG preserves transparency; JPG needs an opaque background.

Using this tool with confidence

How to use it

Choose a clear foreground subject and compare Fast with Quality when detail warrants the larger model download. Wait for the mask, then inspect the before/after slider before choosing a background or export format.

Worked example

For a product photo, erase a hand or nearby object that the general model included, and restore any missing edge. Check against both a light and a dark background: halos invisible on one can become obvious on the other.

Interpretation and limits

Hair, glass, motion blur and low contrast can need manual correction. AI does not recover hidden detail. PNG preserves transparency; JPEG needs an opaque background. Larger images require explicit reduction beyond the working limit, and downloading Quality does not guarantee a better result for every photo.
